Have you ever felt ignored or received poor treatment when you traveled? Do you feel inspired or intimidated when you think about traveling? Do you still want to travel but feel that your disability limits you?

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 15% of the world’s population lives with some form of disability that 2-4% experience significant difficulty in functioning. This estimate is likely to be understated and is increasing due to the aging population and the rapid epidemic of many Chronic Diseases. The U.S. Census Bureau recently stated that nearly 16.5% of all people with disabilities in the U.S. leave their home 1-2 days per week.

Although these are interesting statistics, millions of people are in need of accessible travel options. Baby Boomers and many others are traveling in record number and many times have health conditions. Some people have hidden disabilities, such as hearing impairments, diabetes, mild cognitive disorders, and others have visual impairments or require a wheelchair. Current trends reveal that travelers would often double their spending if more amenities were made available. That’s why travelers take advantage of destinations known for Accessibility such as cruise ships, and land options such as Las Vegas, and Florida.

This educational series is loaded with travel tips catering to people with disabilities. Each volume will feature specific disabilities and then reveals the solutions to overcome some of the barriers encountered when traveling. Every volume will have a resource section that will have useable information, including forums which will give you access to read about others who travel worldwide with disabilities.The first volume will include tips for the visually impaired, hearing impaired, arthritis tips to reduce joint pain, helpful information for diabetics, wheel accessible solutions, traveling with mobility issues, traveling with oxygen, and traveling with medications and so much more.
