There are types of tai chi form which may focus on various tai chi principles and methods, such as a focus on the martial arts or health maintenance. Tai chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it safe for all ages.

There are many ways to get started with tai chi such as buying videos, and books, but it is much safer to seek guidance from a qualified tai chi master to learn how to do tai chi. Tai chi is practiced in communities worldwide such as senior centers, health clubs, and fitness studios.
